Meet Chris Liu & Tibor Matyas. The London based design duo that’s hot off a triple series of collaborations with designers Juun.J, Romain Kremer & Veronique Branquinho for Spring/Summer 2009 present their Fall/Winter 2009 collection of sleek mens bags inspired by Reggie & Ronnie Kray; two of the most infamous crime leaders in London’s East End through the 50’s and 60’s.
You can clearly see the influence of the Kray twins’ beginnings as amateur boxers in the signature detailing and athletic silhouettes. The fabric choices bring the collection out of the 50’s and into the present with tech-y films, slick patents, RiRi zips (which I absolutely love) and rubberized hardware. What I admire most about their design aesthetic is how seamlessly the pieces can mesh with any style while still maintaining their own signature look. Combining wearibility with smart design proves to be a winning formula for the duo.I can’t wait to see more from them in the future.
Take an exclusive look at the Chris & Tibor London Fall/Winter 2009 collection.
